The college was established in 1948. The college's mission is to provide quality education to the students belonging to the remote, educationally and economically backward, rural and tribal area. The objective of college is to assisting students to achieve their full potential through the concepts of learning as a continuing and perpetual process and by the promotion of an inclusive learning culture and incorporating individual learning and training programmes formulated to the needs of the students to achieve greater level of competency at the state and national level.
