Dialysis Technician (DT)


An allied healthcare professional who operates and maintains dialysis machine for patients with kidney diseases. Kidney dialysis makes the difference between life and death for those who suffer from renal failure. These technicians maintain and operate the equipment used for dialysis, a process that cleanses the blood of metabolic waste products.

After completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Assess and cannulate vascular access for HD.
  • Operate the machine according to Nephrologist's order.
  • Monitor the patient and machine and respond to various alarms during the procedure.
  • Terminate a HD session and disconnect the patient from the machine.
