Overview

An event manager is responsible to plan, designing, organizing, and managing the different types of events. An event can be an exhibition, marriage, product launches, corporate meetings, festivals, birthday parties, social gatherings or conferences, etc.  One can choose to specialize in one type of event or work on a range of different events.


Responsibilities of an event manager:

1. Planning the event from start to end, according to the client requirements, event type and target audience
2. Provide suggestions to enhance the event 
3. Paying attention of budget and time constraints
4. Managing and negotiate with vendors and suppliers
5. Lead all promotional activities for the event
6. Supervise all the staff
7. Analyze the event's success and prepare reports

Eligibility

A diploma or degree (bachelor or master) in event management is required to get success in this career. For a bachelor degree, students must clear 10+2 in any discipline and for a PG diploma or PG Degree (MBA), bachelor degree in any discipline is a must.

How to be there?

1. Get a degree in event management or similar from a reputed institute, for this first, you have clear the 10+2 exam from any stream with at least 50% marks.

2. After clearing 10+2 get admission to the college for a bachelor's degree. You can do it with any discipline, but choosing management like BBA or similar will be an advantage for the aspirants.

3. Go for a master's degree like MBA in event management or similar. You can also choose to do a PG diploma. It is mandatory for those who have a different steam bachelor's degree. But it is recommended for all as most employers prefer to hire PG degree/diploma students.

4. After that, join any event management company as a fresher or trainee

5. After having several years of experience, one can choose to continue their job or can start his own event business also.

A fresher can earn between Rs. 15,000 to 20,000. Once you got started, as you gain experience the pay will get up and depends on the organization you are working with and the kind of projects you are handling. If you work your own, you can earn from 50,000 to 1 lakh per event.
